Rigorous checks are made right from the moment the milk is first collected, at every stage of processing, and up to the time of packaging and transportation. The introduction of a Quality Management System created ideal conditions for encouraging production efficiency within the company. In April 2001, the business was granted UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 Quality Certification , making Fioretta one of the first cheese producers in south-eastern Sicily (the area made up of the provinces of Ragusa, Siracusa and Catania) to be the proud holder of this form of recognition.
The implementation of the Quality Management System has allowed the company to achieve some important objectives:
The Certification has played a decisive role in raising quality and safety standards, and so has allowed Fioretta to meet the needs of all those who come into contact with the company, whether they are consumers, suppliers or clients. Within Europe, the demand for agro-food products from Italy (and from Sicily in particular) is constantly growing. For this reason, one of our next objectives is to bring the business into line with the norms laid down by the I.F.S. (International Food Standard), and the B.R.C. (British Retail Consortium): the two main standards to be recognised by leading European distribution networks. |
